Water
Water, water, everywhere:
- to aid a reducing diet and/or enhance digestion, drink at least 12 ounces
of water with every meal
- To treat brittle nails, drink more water, about 6 to 8 glasses a day, to
retain proper moisture levels in the nails and reduce flaking. However, an
excess of external water (dishwashing, bathing, wet gardening, and so on) can
make brittle nails worse. Wear rubber gloves or coat the nails with petroleum
jelly whenever possible.
- For urinary tract infections or mild cystitis, increase your water
consumption to two or three quarts per day. [Also good to get rid of urinary
tract infections is to drink cranberry juice-Shana]. This is most easily
accomplished by drinking a juice glass of water every half hour or so rather
than larger amounts less frequently.
- To reduce odorous perspiration, drink more water.
- According to Dr. N. G. Hunt and his English colleagues Lancet, March 8,
1975 , plunging the face in 65F water often produces a "diving reflex"
after
20 to 30 seconds of immersion, in which heartbeat is dramatically reduced.
This diving reflex can be helpful for people who suffer from tachycardia
periodic attacks of rapid heartbeat . CAUTION! Because there are various
types and causes of tachycardia, patients should consult their doctors first.
- To improve your complexion and skin tone and normalize either dry or oily
skin, eat well and drink six to eight glasses of water a day.
- The water-cure method of getting rid of coughs and colds is to wrap the
body up in a hot, wet sheet, untill perspiration is induced, drinking all the
time plenty of cold water.
- For a cold, drink a pint of cold water while lying down in bed.
- For heartburn, drink a pint of cold water.
- For a violent case of nosebleed, go into a pond or river.
- Generally, where cold bathing is necessary to cure any disease, water
drinking is to prevent a relapse.
