WiccaWicce
Wicca / Wicce
While researching some word origins, I went to the word witch. In Old
English witch was Wicca or Wicce.
Wicca is masculine for a male witch.
Wicce is feminine for female witch.
This should be of interest to the feminists and matriarchs out there as
Wicca was resurrected, so to speak, by men. Hence the masculine usage.
I've a collection of old dictionaries here, been collecting them since I
was little, and this is stated fact in all the ones that give word
origins.
Food for thought. You might want to pass this tidbit around.
Today while at my mother's, I picked up her new Webster's Unabridged
Dictionary and looked up the word Witch. And this is what it also said:
Wicca - OE (Old English) - male wizard
Wicce - OE - female witch
I was then speaking to another person online about this and he said that
AJ Drew has pointed this out in the past and that he gets blasted out of
the water for saying it.
I'm not a fan of AJ Drew and for all the slack the fella takes, I've got
to stand with 'im on this fact.
If anyone has an unabridged dictionary, they can probably see this for
themselves.
Brightest Blessings
