The Legend:
This thin, elongated root was used in a number of ways, among them being to
(1) place in red bag and hang around the neck at night to drive away evil
forces.

(2) Cut root into small pieces, put in small jar and fill with
whiskey and camphor. Whenever power of one sort of another is needed, take out a piece of root and rub into hands....

(3) The root is carried in pocket or purse a good luck charm, and as gambler's lucky 'hand'. The
twisted, twining root is supposed to draw and 'clutch money
