Making the doll and preparing to use it....
"Poppet" be the old term for an image doll. Traditionally, poppets were
hand-made from scraps of cloth belonging to the person who was the "Subject"
of the spell, either to be healed, made to fall in or out of love, or the
"Victim" of a curse or hex. In olden times, a Witch was much more adept in
the arts of stitchery and poppet spells much more in vogue than they be
today. That doth not mean, however, they be any less potent than in those
bygone days. The Magical Law which governs the theory of image dolls
sayeth what happens to the part of a thing also hath an astral affect to
effect the entire whole thereof - THE LAW OF SYMPATHETIC CONTAGION. The
effect be brought about by the imitative ability of the mind of the
Practitioner to "see" the doll as the subject and project that image
strongly; be it love, compassion, or hate to whomever -- THE LAW OF THE
IMITATIVE CAPACITY.
Best results be obtained when the poppet be either made from a garment
recently worn by the subject or hath some thing -- TAGLOCK -- of the subject
such as hair, nail clippings, blood or excretia from the body itself. The
next best thing, shouldst a decent tag-lock be unavailable, wouldst be the
subject's name, scribed on parchment paper in the traditional inks of ART:
Dove's Blood Ink for positive works, Dragon's Blood Ink for works needing
power, and Bat's Blood Ink for thy darker sorceries. The parchment wouldst
be attached to the doll so as to help identify it as the subject.
Nowadays, many people be not adept at creating poppets and must rely on the
Specialty Shops which carry them. These be by no means less effective, but
the tag-lock shouldst be sewn onto the doll by the witches hand. It may be
also stuffed into the poppet by splitting a seam and resewing, or attached
to the outside by needle and thread. This be at least in keeping with the
"old" ways and helpeth to invest the doll with the Practitioner's desire to
bring about the intended results. The next step be to name the poppet for
the person who be the subject of the spell. Simply call the doll by the
subject's name at least thrice (three times) and meditate deeply for at
least ten minutes that the poppet be the person. That being done, you can
have an authentic Witches Poppet.
